Exploring painting as a means of expression is the result of a life long interest in images, forms and structures ranging from architecture and natural landscapes to industrial design. My style extends from realism to abstraction which allows me a wide range of discovery. I thoroughly enjoy exploring the application of colour and texture, in warm and cool palettes, with the goal of creating rich and dynamic compositions.

My work sets out to capture a moment; whether it be light on a structure, a natural landscape or an abstract visual image that summons an intense emotion. I try to convey an appreciation for the fact that when the moment passes, be it brief or prolonged, it is gone forever. The suggestion of motion illustrates the constant state of flux that marks our day to day life. My goal is to project a sense of immediacy using the effects of vivid colour and texture; as if to say “look at this now because in a moment it won’t be the same”.

Inspiration is gained from subject matter ranging from everyday vignettes that are quietly intriguing to surreal and intense imagery. My non representative work often draws from material and structures that are organic in nature. In all cases my underlying objective is to engage the viewer, evoke an emotional response and draw them into another world, if only for a moment.
